A History of Commitment and Success

Headquartered in Wilder, KY, Building Crafts, Inc. (BCI) was founded in 1955 by the Zalla family. Under the leadership of Marty Zalla, and now President and CEO, John Zalla, the company has prospered and grown into a construction industry leader. For over 50 years, public and private clients throughout the entire United States have relied on BCI for cost-effective management and construction of commercial, industrial, & municipal facilities.

The values initially instilled in the company of integrity, pride in workmanship, dependability and flexibility have served the company well. Our success is derived from a service philosophy of “we, not me”. We put the owner’s interest first, offering a refreshing level of cooperation and flexibility. We have a large base of repeat clients which is a true testament to the quality of service delivered by BCI on every project.

In 2013, after several years of experience and successful projects in the Midwest, BCI expanded its operations, opening the Great Plains Regional Office (GPRO) located in Red Oak, IA.  Our GPRO management personnel were hired locally and have over 300 years of combined construction experience in the Red Oak community, Southwest Iowa and the entire Midwest Region. They have a vested interest in the area and this is their home. As a result, GPRO is thriving with continued growth and success in this region.

As a family-owned company, we understand the value of our employees and their families and know our people are our greatest asset. With our current staff of over 200 employees, BCI has the knowledge, experience, and history of success to provide all types of clients with a full range of construction services including general contracting, construction management, design/build, and maintenance/repair.
